Temporary COVID timetables
In light of the government’s latest COVID restrictions, our services are now running to temporary timetables. Most services continue to operate but with some reduced frequencies, so we're here for when you need us.

Buses on services 2, 2A, 78 & 78A towards Sunderland will be unable to serve bus stops on Chester Road between Grindon Lane and Greenwood Road on Sundays 7th & 14th March between 08:00 & 18:00 while Sunderland City Council carry out essential maintenance. Please catch your bus from Grindon Lane, Gleneagles Road or Greenwood Road.

Buses & Coaches will be diverted between 20:00 on Friday 5th March until 06:00 on Monday 8th March while junction improvement works continue.
X-lines X10 will be unable to serve bus stops at Testo's roundabout on journeys in both directions. Please catch your coach at Heworth Interchange.
Services 35 & 35A will be unable to serve bus stops between Cooper BMW & White Mare Pool on journeys in both directions. Please catch your bus at White Mare Pool services or Cooper BMW.
Services 50 will be unable to serve bus stops between Sulgrave and Boldon on journeys in both directions. Please use the Nightingale shuttle service and change to & from service 50 at Concord Bus Station.

Closure at Edgewell Road, Prudhoe

Tynedale Links 686
Tynedale Links service 686 will be unable to serve the bus stops on Edgewell Road while Northumberland County Council Carry out essential maintenance. On Mondays to Fridays from Monday 1st March until Monday 15th March, buses will divert via Beaumont Way. Buses will stop on Highfield Lane or Beaumont Way for you to board or alight, please wait in a safe place and signal for the bus to stop.
Coaster 1A and 1B at Gateshead Interchange from 15 February

From Monday 15 February, Durham Bus Station will be closed to allow demolition and redevelopment work to begin, which is expected to last until Autumn 2022.
Whilst the bus station is closed, a range of new bus stops will be introduced on North Road and at Millburngate.

Long term closure at Washington Road (East of the A19)

Cityrider 56
Cityrider 56 & 56A will be unable to serve bus stops between Sulgrave and Washington Road while works are in place. Buses will divert via Spire Road, Peel Retail Park, A1231 & Ferryboat Lane in both directions, stopping at all stops on the diversion route. Service 56A will also stop at bus stops on the sliproads near Pattinson / Washington Wildfowl Park for customers travelling to Cherry Blossom Way.
A shuttle bus is operating between Concord and Nissan, running every 15 minutes from approximately 05:00 until midnight. for customers travelling to Nissan or Seven Houses. Ask the driver of Cityrider 56 & 56A for your destination and your ticket is valid for travel on the shuttle bus.
Closure at Silksworth Road, Silksworth

Following feedback from local residents, we have altered the diversion on service 35A to better serve Silksworth.
Buses will operate normal route to Vicarage Road and then operate non stop via Vicarage Road & Silksworth Road to resume normal route at Silksworth Lane.
Closure of New Elvet Bridge in Durham

New Elvet Bridge in Durham will be closed from Monday 20 July 2020 for 14 months.
During this time, Cathderal Bus 40B and indiGo service 59 will be diverted while Durham County Council carry out major works on New Elvet Bridge. Buses will not serve bus stops between the bus station and the Whitechurch public house (New Inn).
Buses will stop at the bus stops near to the Whitechurch public house and Bow Durham School

Bus stop 24857 at Sunderland University Transport hub will be closed while essential works are carried out on Monday 8th March until Thursday 11th March. Please catch your bus from the stop on Chester Road, opposite the Murray Library.

Tyne Valley Ten service 10 and Tynedale Links service 686 will be diverted between 07:30 & 17:00 from Tuesday 9th March & Friday 12th March while Northumberland County Council carry out essential maintenance at West Road, Prudhoe.
Service 10 will be unable to serve bus stops between Prudhoe By Pass and Station Road.
Service 686 will be unable to serve stops between Highfield Lane and Castle Road.
A shuttle bus will be in operation, operating a clockwise loop from Station Road via West Road, South Road, Highfield Lane, Beaumont Way, West Road, A695 Prudhoe By Pass to Station Road.

Buses on service 27 will be unable to serve bus stops between the Western end of Sunderland Road & Felling Gate between 22:35 and 05:00 the following morning on the evenings of Tuesday 9th & Wednesday 10th March while Gateshead Council carry out essential maintenance. Please catch your bus from Felling Metro or near the BP Garage on Old Durham Road.
