Road closure at Cleadon Village affecting services 24 & 25A

Buses on service 24 will be unable to serve stops in Cleadon Village between Cleadon Front Street and Sunderland Road and service 25A will be unable to serve stops between Sunderland Road and Cleadon Lane Industrial Estate from 08:00 until 17:00 on Sunday 27th April.  Service 24 will operate via Front Street, Boldon Lane, Benton Road, Galsworthy Road and Nevinson Avenue, serving bus stops near Cleadon Cenotaph.  Service 25A will divert non stop from King George Road roundabout to Cleadon Lane Industrial Estate.

Bus stop closure at Market Street East affecting services 1, 27, 56, 57, 58, 91, Q3. Q3X & X58

As part of the ongoing Pilgrims Quarter development, the pavements and bus stops on Market Street East are inaccessible. Please use stops on Market Street West. Service Q3 & Q3X will stop at the Theatre Royal, all other services will stop at the bus stop outside Start Fitness.

Road closure at Castledene Road affecting services V1, V2, X5 & school bus 826

24th Mar 2025 - 18th May 2025

Buses will be unable to operate via Castledene Road from first bus on Monday 24th March for around 8 weeks.  Services V1 & V2 will operate via Iveston Road and Delves Lane rather than Gloucester Road.  Service X5 will operate direct along Delves Lane.  School bus 826 will operate via Gloucester Road to Crookhall then return via Gloucester Road and direct via Delves Lane.  Buses will serve all stops on the diversionary routes.

Roadworks affecting service 10B at Prudhoe Rail Interchange

4th Mar 2025 onwards

Due to roadworks ongoing at Prudhoe Rail Interchange, service 10B is currently unable to serve the stop within the car park at the station.

Please catch your bus from Princess Way.

Bus stand closure at Washington Galleries affecting services 2, 84 & 939

We have been informed by Washington Galleries that stand B in the bus station will be out of use until further notice due to a fault with the automatic doors.  Please catch your bus from stand C.

Road closure at Charles Street affecting service 78

Service 78 will be unable to serve stops at Hustledown Gardens, Southfields or Charles Street between 07:00 & 19:00 on Monday to Saturdays from Monday 28th April until Tuesday 6th May.  Buses will divert from Hollyhill Gardens via Hustledown Road and Park Road serving all stops on the diversionary route.

Road closure at The Sill affecting service AD122

28th Apr 2025 - 2nd May 2025

Buses on service AD122 will be unable to serve stops at Smiths Shield and Vindolanda between 08:00 & 16:00 each day from Monday 28th April until Friday 2nd May.  The nearest stops are at The Sill National Landscape Discovery Centre.

Road closure at Pallion New Road affecting service 8

28th - 30th Apr 2025

Buses on service 8 will be unable to serve stops at Trimdon Street & Pallion New Road from 19:00 until end of service each evening from Monday 28th to Wednesday 30th April.  Buses will divert via Hylton Road, Pallion Road, Pallion Subway and Pallion New Road.  Buses will stop at all stops on the diversionary route.

Road closure at Burdon Road affecting services 9, 24, 35, 36, 56, 61 & 62

Buses will be unable to operate via Burdon Road between 20:00 and 06:00 the following morning on the evenings of Monday 28th and Tuesday 29th April while Sunderland City Council carry out essential maintenance.  Services 61, & 62 will not serve stops on Burdon Road or Borough Road  lease catch your bus from Sunderland Interchange.  Services 9, 24, 35, 36 & 56 will not serve stops on Burdon Road, please catch your bus from Fawcett Street.
