Short notice journey cancellations

15th Sep onwards

Due to the current national driver shortage which is affecting all sectors, and higher-than-usual levels of sickness absence, some journeys are not expected to operate.

Diversion - Trimdon Station, Trimdon Colliery, Trimdon, Fishburn & Sedgefield

14th Sep - 1st Oct

Due to recent ASB in the areas of Trimdon Station, Trimdon Colliery, Trimdon, Fishburn & Sedgefield, Service 239 will divert and omit these areas. 

Service 239 will not serve stops between Station town and Sedgefield in both directions and will terminate at Station Town. 

Customers can board the service at Station Town towards Peterlee.

Closure at Benfieldside Road

17th Aug - 17th Sep

Benfieldside road is closed for works until 17th September

Buses on service X45 will be unable to serve stops on Benfieldside road. Buses will divert via Queens Road & Woodlands Road.

Closure of Durham Bus Station from 15 February

15th Feb - 30th Sep

From Monday 15 February, Durham Bus Station will be closed to allow demolition and redevelopment work to begin, which is expected to last until Autumn 2022.

Whilst the bus station is closed, a range of new bus stops will be introduced on North Road and at Millburngate.

Closure of New Elvet Bridge in Durham

20th Jul - 19th Sep

New Elvet Bridge in Durham will be closed from Monday 20 July 2020 for 14 months.

During this time, Cathderal Bus 40B and indiGo service 59 will be diverted while Durham County Council carry out major works on New Elvet Bridge. Buses will not serve bus stops between the bus station and the Whitechurch public house (New Inn).

Buses will stop at the bus stops near to the Whitechurch public house and Bow Durham School

These disruptions could affect future journeys

Closure at A19 & Washington Road, Washington

17th - 20th Sep

Buses & coaches will be diverted between 20:00 on Friday 17th until 06:00 on Monday 20th September.

Services X9 & X10 will be unable to serve bus stops at Testos roundabout on journeys in both directions.

City Rider service 56 will be unable to serve bus stops on Washington Road between Cherry Blossom Way and Ferryboat Lane, please catch your bus from Cherry Blossom Way.

Closure at North Road, Durham

19th Sep

Service 21 to Newcastle due to depart Durham, North Road at 06:22 & 06:57 will be unable to operate from North Road due to urgent works being carried out.  These buses will operate from Sutton Street, or you can catch your service at the former County Hospital bus stop on the the northern section of North Road.

Closure at Redheugh Bridge

19th Sep

Redheugh Bridge is closed for works 06:00-16:00 on Sunday 19th September.  Services 6, 10, 10A, 10B, 47, 47A & X30 towards Newcastle will be unable to set down at Clayton Street West or Newgate Street between these times.  Buses on these services from Newcastle will be unable to serve Central Station, please catch your bus from Newgate Street, Wilkinson's or the stops before the High Level Bridge.

Buses on services X45, X46 and 54 will be unable to serve Central Station on journeys from Newcastle, please catch your bus from Newgate Street, Wilkinson's or the stops before the High Level Bridge.

Closure at Chester le Street Front Street

19th - 24th Sep

Buses will be unable to serve their usual stops on Chester le Street Front Street while Durham County Council carry out essential maintenance between 19:00 & 06:00 the following morning on the evenings of Sunday 19th to Thursday 23rd September. Bus stops between South Burns and Ropery Lane roundabout will be closed and buses will depart from alternative stands

Services 21, N21, X21 & 25 to Newcastle will operate from a temporary stop on Cone Terrace, behind Horners pub

Services 21, N21 & X21 to Durham & Bishop Auckland will operate from stand M on South Burns, near Tesco

Service 25 to Langley Park will operate from stand M on South Burns, near Tesco

Service 50 to South Shields will use stand J on South Burns

Services 34 & 50 to Waldridge Park will depart from stand L on South Burns

Service 78 to Sunderland will depart from stand M on South Burns, near Tesco

Service 78 to Consett will depart from stand L on South Burns

Services not noted above will depart from their normal stand

Closure at Boldon Lane level crossing

29th - 30th Sep

The service to South Shields due at Boldon ASDA at 00:51 on the morning of Thursday 30th September will be unable to serve stops between New Road and Whiteleas Way due to Network Rail works.  Please catch your bus from the bus stop on New Road near Boker Lane or Whiteleas Way, near Peter Johnson's funeral care.
