Road closure at Angel of the North affecting service 21

Buses on service 21 towards Newcastle will be unable to serve stops between Birtley, Windsor Road and Harlow Green Bridge from 20:00 until 06:00 the following morning on the evenings of Tuesday 21st to Thursday 23rd January.  Please catch your bus from the top of Windsor Road or Harlow Green Bridge.

Due to a road closure at Western Hill/ Chester Road services leaving Sunderland City Centre towards Sunderland Royal Hospital are currently unable to serve the hospital. Please catch your bus from The Royalty

Road closure at Durham Millburngate affecting services in Durham City Centre

The next phase of the North Road and Millburngate refurbishment works will begin on Monday 13th January and will continue for a number of weeks.  Buses will be unable to serve stops at Millburngate all day on Mondays to Fridays while the works continue.  Please catch your bus from the bus station.

Please note on weekends buses will operate normal routes, serving stops at Millburngate.

Bus stand closure at Washington Galleries affecting services 2, 2A, 84 & 939

We have been informed by Washington Galleries that stand B in the bus station will be out of use until further notice due to a fault with the automatic doors.  Please catch your bus from stand C.

Unsafe building at Nile Street affecting service 1

29th Nov 2024 - 31st Jan 2025

Following a building fire on Nile Street, services are currently diverted in North Shields. Buses on service 1 towards Newcastle & Metro Centre are omitting West Percy Street and serving stops on Albion Road.

Services 317, 353 & 354 cannot serve the stops on Albion Road or West Percy Street. Please catch your bus from North Shields Transport Hub

Long term road closure at Washington Road affecting services 50 & 56

18th Nov 2024 - 25th Feb 2025

Buses will be diverted while Northumbrian Water carry out works on Washington Road from Monday 18th November until February 2025.  Buses will divert via Infinity Drive and Cherry Blossom Way, serving temporary stops near Unipres on Cherry Blossom Way. (The 04:58 journey on service 56 from Sunderland to Newcastle is unaffected).
