Road closure at Dipwoood Road affecting service X45

Buses on service X45 will be diverted between 20:00 until 06:00 the following morning on the evenings of Tuesday 28th July to Friday 31st July and Sunday 2nd August while Gateshead Council carry out essential works at Dipwood Road. Buses will operate non stop between Hamsterley Mill, Hagg Farm and Rowlands Gill. In Rowlands Gill buses will be unable to serve the stop opposite Tesco at Station Road and will instead serve the stop at Stirling Lane.
Road closure at Eastern Way affecting service 74

Buses on service 74 will be unable to serve the stops on Eastern Way near Hawthorn Way or Edge Hill near Hill Park from Monday 20th to Friday 7th August. Please catch your bus from Callerton Hall or Eastern Way / Middle Drive.
Road closure at Glasshouse Street affecting service Q3

Buses on service Q3 will be unable to sere St Peter's Basin between 19:00 & 07:00 the following morning on the evenings of Monday 27th July and Friday 13th August while Newcastle City Council carry out essential maintenance at Glasshouse Street. Buses will stay on Walker Road and terminate at the bus stop near Raby Street. Buses will start their journey towards Brunton Park from the bus stop opposite Till Street.
Road closures at Mill Road and Hawks Road affecting services 53, 54, 93 & 94
Buses on services 53, 54, 93 & 94 will be diverted while Hawks Road and Mill Road are closed as part of the next phase of the Gateshead flyover demolition. Services 53 & 54 will be unable to serve stops at Hillgate, South Shore Road, Mill Road and Hawks Road and will instead operate via Church Street and serve the stop at The Glasshouse. Services 93 & 94 will be unable to serve stops at Saltmeadows Road between Albany Road and Quays Boulevard. Please catch your bus from Saltmeadows Road near Fleet Factors or stops near Gateshead College.
Road closure at Gunnerton affecting service 682

Buses on service 682 will be unable to serve stops at Barrasford and Gunnerton from Monday 20th July to Friday 14th August. Buses will divert from Chollerton to the A68 and resume normal route at the junction near Barrasford Park.
***Additionally, on Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th July, the A68 is closed at Ridsdale and buses will terminate near Barrasford Park.
Refurbishment works at Regent Centre Interchange affecting services Q3 & Q3X

From Thursday 23rd July work will start on the removal of the bus interchange canopy outside the Metro station. While the work takes place buses will us different stops to normal. Services Q3 & Q3X towards Brunton Park will use temporary stops in the interchange. Services towards the City Centre, St Peter's and Wallsend will use temporary bus stops on Great North Road, south of Christon Road.

Buses on service 703 will be unable to serve stops at Station Lane, Pelton Bridge, Pelton Church, Aged Miners Homes or Newfield Edward Terrace from Monday 20th July until Sunday 16th August. Buses will divert via Newfield Front Street and turn in the school car park before operating via the normal route back towards Chester le Street.

***UPDATE 30/07/2026 08:35*** We have received official confirmation that the A689 has fully re-opened. Services have resumed normal route.
We're concerned over the way these works have been communicated and will be discussing this with Cumbria County Council.
Roadworks at Bridgehill affecting service 47

Buses on service 47 towards Newcastle can not serve stops at Chaytor Road and Pleasant View due to roadworks making the road to narrow for two vehicles to pass safely.
Buses will operate along Pemberton Road and Durham Road, serving all stops on the diversionary route.
School buses SB2 & SB3 in the afternoon will operate via Chaytor Road before serving Pemberton Road. SB2 will terminate at Pemberton Road while SB3 will continue to Medomsley.

The bus stop at Barnes Park for services travelling away from Sunderland has been removed following an accident. Buses will serve the previous stop.
Stanley Bus Station Refurbishment

Between 7th April and the end of September 2026, Stanley Bus Station will be undergoing a major refurbishment. During this time, certain stands will be out of use and as such your bus may depart from a different stand from normal. Please refer to signage located within the station for more information.

Buses on services 54A, 309 & 317 will be unable to serve stops on Shields Road and Hillheads Road between 18:00 and the end of service each day from Sunday 2nd to Friday 14th August. Buses will divert via Seatonville Road, Cauldwell Lane, Norham Road and Park View serving all stops on the diversion route.
Road closure between Allendale and Allenheads affecting service 688

Service 688 will be unable to operate it's full route on Monday 3rd August between 08:00 and 17:00 due to roadworks. Unfortunately, due to the length of the diversion it is unsustainable to operate via this route and services will terminate at Allendale Town, with journeys towards Hexham starting on time from Allendale.
Road closure at Station Road, Rowlands Gill affecting services 47 & X45
Buses on services 47 & X45 will be unable to serve their usual routes while Gateshead Council carry out essential maintenance at Station Road between 20:00 & 05:00 the following morning on the evenings of Monday 3rd to Sunday 9th August.
Service 47 will be unable to serve the section of route between High Spen and Swalwell and will instead divert non stop via Greenside and Blaydon.
Service X45 will be unable to serve the section between Hamsterley Colliery and Swalwell Monument and will instead divert non stop via Burnopfield, Fellside Road and Swalwell Bank.
