Eldon Square Bus Station Closure
Eldon Square Bus Station will be closed while Newcastle City Council carry out essential resurfacing work, from 10 until 28 June. During this period, most Go North East services that usually serve Eldon Square will arrive and depart from Newgate Street instead. Please see the following link for more details:
More informationRoad closure at South Shore Road affecting services 53 & 54
Buses on services 53 & 54 are diverted due to emergency works connected to the Tyne Bridge refurbishment scheme. Service 53 will omit Hillgate, South Shore Road and Hawks Road and will operate directly from Swing Bridge to the Glasshouse. Service 54 will operate direct via Tyne Bridge omitting stops between Gateshead Askew Road and Newcastle City Centre.

Buses on service 6 will be unable to serve stops on Langley Lane or Greenwood Avenue from start of service on Monday 18th May for approximately 6 weeks. Buses will operate via Holmside Lane in both directions.
Road closure at Benfield Road affecting service 301

Buses on service 301 will be unable to serve Appletree Gardens on journeys towards Whitley Bay on Sundays from Sunday 7th May until Sunday 21st June inclusive. Buses will operate via Shields Road serving stops on diversion.

The bus stop at Barnes Park for services travelling away from Sunderland has been removed following an accident. Buses will serve the previous stop.
Stanley Bus Station Refurbishment

Between 7th April and the end of September 2026, Stanley Bus Station will be undergoing a major refurbishment. During this time, certain stands will be out of use and as such your bus may depart from a different stand from normal. Please refer to signage located within the station for more information.

Bus stop 25955 at Borough Road / Villiers Street will be out of use from 04/04/26 until 19/09/2026. due to scaffolding on a nearby building. Please use the previous stop at The William Jameson or the next stop at West Lawrence Street.

Buses on services 25 & 50 will be diverted from 23:00 on Saturday 27th June until 07:00 the following morning. Bus stops on Boldon Lane, Benton Road and Galsworthy Road will not be served, please catch your bus from New Road or Whiteleas Way.
