A brand-new open-top coastal service has arrived for Summer 2026. The Tide Tour (Service 300) runs along the stunning coastline between Tynemouth and Whitley Bay every 60 minutes, offering spectacular sea views and easy access to some of the region's most popular attractions.
From Saturday 18 July until 31 August, hop on board and explore the best of the North East coast. Whether you're rediscovering your local area or enjoying a day out somewhere new, there's no better way to take in the scenery.
Supported by the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority, adult tickets start at just £2.50, 21 and under from £1, and Kids go Free*.

From Tynemouth central stops:
Explore a fantastic collection of independent traders, local makers and delicious street food at Tynemouth Market, located inside Tynemouth Metro Station.
Open every Saturday and Sunday, 9am – 3:30pm
Tynemouth Village
Take a stroll through Tynemouth's charming village centre, packed with independent shops, welcoming bars and award-winning places to eat.
Step back in time and explore one of the North East's most iconic historic landmarks. Set high above the sea, Tynemouth Priory and Castle offers breathtaking coastal views and a fascinating history. 20% off entry with your bus ticket.
From Grand Parade stops:
Looking for a fun-filled family adventure? Tynemouth Park is a family-run seaside attraction just steps from the award-winning Longsands Beach. Enjoy affordable outdoor fun, including dinosaur-themed mini golf, outdoor soft play, a pirate maze, a historic boating lake and a café.
For a more relaxing experience, unwind at Steam & Salt's Nordic-inspired, wood-fired beach saunas, perfectly positioned on Longsands Beach.

From Cullercoats stops:
Sea swimming
Cullercoats bay has an active open water swimming scene. Its harbour offers protection from the elements and offers a great place to swim.

Whitley Bay Holiday Park
Planning a longer stay? Whitley Bay Holiday Park offers a heated indoor pool, outdoor play areas and a nature reserve, making it a great base for a summer coastal getaway.
One of the North East's best-known landmarks, St Mary's Lighthouse guided ships safely along the coast until 1984. Today, visitors can explore the lighthouse and visitor centre while learning about its history and wildlife.
Whitley Bay Mini Golf and FootGolf

There's no special fare for the Tide Tour... travel all day across the North East from just:
- £7.50 Adult Day Ticket
- £3 Under 21 Day Ticket
- *Kids aged 11 and under travel free this summer (T&C’s apply)
Travel to the coast with a ticket that's valid on most buses across Tyne & Wear, County Durham and Northumberland, Metro services, the Shields Ferry, and the Sunderland–Blaydon rail line. Then hop on and off the Tide Tour and explore more of the region – all with the same ticket.
Go North East specific tickets and passes are not valid on this service.
