Service changes from 12 November

In partnership with Nexus and with financial support from the Government’s Bus Service Improvement Plan, we are pleased to announce revised timetables which will see an improved frequency introduced on service 56, and more buses on evenings and Sundays on services 2/2A, 8 and 20/20A.

From the same date, we will also be implementing some minor timetable changes to improve reliability to several services across the region.

 

Sunderland District Berries 2 | 2A

  • In partnership with Nexus and with financial support from the Government’s Bus Service Improvement Plan, service 2A will now run on evenings. This means that, combined with service 2, these services will be increased to run every 30 minutes between Washington Galleries, Penshaw, Sunderland and Silksworth.

Country Ranger 8

  • In partnership with Nexus and with financial support from the Government’s Bus Service Improvement Plan, this service will be revised to run the full route between Sunderland, Washington Galleries, Chester-le-Street and Stanley on evenings and Sundays.

Prince Bishops 20 | 20A

  • In partnership with Nexus and with financial support from the Government’s Bus Service Improvement Plan, these services will be increased to run every 30 minutes between Sunderland and Durham on evenings. Once per hour, these will be numbered as a 20, and once per hour as service 20A.
  • This means that, on Monday to Saturday evenings, we will be introducing later journeys to Chilton Moor and Rainton Bridge.

Service 50

  • On Sundays, the 05:53 journey from Concord to Durham will instead start from Washington Galleries at 06:04.
  • Customers who usually board the service between Concord and Washington Galleries can travel on the service 4 which leaves Heworth at 05:37, which will then continue from Washington as service 50 to Durham.

  • In partnership with Nexus and with financial support from the Government’s Bus Service Improvement Plan, service 56 will be increased in frequency and will now run up to every 12 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes.

Service 79

  • In order to improve reliability of this service, journeys on service 79 towards Barnwell will be revised to operate direct via Hillside Way in Houghton-le-Spring, no longer serving Dairy Lane and The Broadway.
  • As such, there will be minor timetable changes.

Little Pinks 81 | 83

  • To replace service 83 on an evening, new journeys will be introduced on service 81 between The Galleries and Waterview Park.
  • Sunday daytime journeys will be re-timed by up to 8 minutes.
  • The 07:58 journey on service 81 from Birtley on Sundays will be revised to start 3 minutes earlier at Mount Pleasant.
  • The 09:32 journey on service 81 from Barmston Court on Sundays will be revised to start 5 minutes earlier at Waterview Park.
