Adult Single Bus Fares - Capped at £2.50!
Until 31 December 2025, adult single bus fares across the North East have been capped at a maximum of £2.50, saving you at least 50p per journey compared to the Government’s previously announced £3 cap.
Most adult single fares in the region will be £2.50, with some lower than this. Please check with your driver before you board to see what price your ticket will be.
We’re also pleased to confirm that the £1 flat fare for passengers aged 21 and under on public transport will continue throughout 2025, with plans to keep this in place across the region until at least 2028.
This new £2.50 fare cap is subsidised by the North East Combined Authority and ensures travel remains as affordable as possible. The cap will remain in effect until December 2025, helping to keep costs low for all.

How can I save money on bus travel?
Single fares may not be the most cost-effective ticket for you if you’re making multiple bus journeys in one day or travel on the bus frequently.
You can save money by purchasing one of our many alternative tickets we offer, including 7-day tickets, 28-day tickets and Day Rovers.
For example, taking four trips around Northumberland using single tickets could cost £10 but buying a Northumberland Day Rover will give you unlimited journeys across the county for just £5.
