Summer is here and Kids Go Free is back!

Between 18 July and 31 August 2026, children aged 11 and under can travel for free with a fare paying adult. This includes ENCTS, and excludes U22 products, student tickets and GNE's 5-25 products.

In previous school holidays, up to three children could travel for free but this year there will be no limit on the number of children that can travel for a free with a fare paying adult.

In May, the Department of Transport announced a new scheme that could allow free bus travel for all 5-to-15-year-olds between 1 and 31 August. We will share more information soon on Go North East’s participation in this scheme.
