Road closure at Chopwell Road affecting service 47
***Update - 15/10/2026 - 15:45 - Road now re-opened.***Buses on service 47 will be unable to serve stops between Hamsterley Colliery and Rowlands Gill between 09:00 & 15:00 from Monday 12th to Friday 16th October.
Buses will operate directly along the A694, waiting time at Rowlands Gill.
A free shuttle service provided by Durham County Council and operated by Kingsway Cabs will operate between Blackhall Mill and Rowlands Gill in both directions and serving all stops, leaving Blackhall Mill at 09:30, 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 13:30 & 14:30 and departing Rowlands Gill at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00 & 14:00.
The last buses to operate on normal route each morning will be the 07:53 from Eldon Square and the 08:38 from Consett, while the first buses to resume normal route in the afternoon will be the 14:15 from Eldon Square and the 14:42 from Consett.
Buses on service 47 will not stop for customers at any stops on the diversionary route.
