Tyne-Wear Derby - service disruption expected on 22 March
3 months ago

On Sunday 22nd March Newcastle United play Sunderland at St James' Park. To facilitate road closures for fan safety there will be major disruption to our services in Newcastle city centre between 10:00-11:15 and 14:00-15:15.
During these times:
- No Go North East services will serve Clayton Street/Central Station in either direction. Customers arriving at the station are advised to disembark at a temporary stop that will be in operation at the top of Dean Street, and those departing the station should board at the existing stops on Newgate Street. Both of these stops are roughly a 10-minute walk from the usual station stops so allow extra time for your journey.
- Eastbound 301 services will not serve stops on Clayton Street, Grainger Street or Market Street. The temporary stop on Dean Street and the Q3 stop on Pilgrim Street will be served instead.
- Service 53 will not serve stops on Clayton Street or Westgate Road.
- Service 54 will not serve stops at Central Station
- We are currently expecting to serve all other city centre stops, including Eldon Square, John Dobson Street, Newgate Street and High Level North, as planned- but some short-term disruption is possible. Live updates will be available in the Go North East app.
Throughout the day:
- The X50 Soccerbus P&R from the Metrocentre will on diversion and will both drop-off before the game and pick-up after the game from the stops outside St Andrews's Church/ The Gate.
- Services to be very busy and delays are expected across our network. Please allow longer for your journey than usual, particularly if you are heading to the match or into central Newcastle.
- It's likely that there will be mixture of fans from both teams onboard our buses. We kindly ask everyone to keep the rivalry on the pitch and remain respectful toward fellow passengers and our staff.
