New matchday park and ride service for NUFC v Brighton
1 month ago
We're running a trial matchday park and ride service between Newcastle Great Park and St. James’ Park on Saturday 2 May, when Newcastle United take on Brighton & Hove Albion.
The trial service is the result of feedback shared with the club during a Sustainable Travel Workshop for Toon fans.
Fans using the service on Saturday can board the X40 for free, they just need to show their match ticket.
Before the match, the bus will leave from Great Park Park & Ride (NE13 9NR) every 15 minutes from 13:00 -14:45, and fans will be dropped off outside the stadium.
After the match, buses will depart back to Great Park from the stops outside St Andrew’s Church on Newgate Street every 5 minutes between 17:00 and 17:15. In the event of added time or a match delay, departure times back to Great Park will be pushed back accordingly.
Ben Gilligan, Managing Director, at Go North East, says: “We’re really pleased to be working with Newcastle United on this trial park and ride. If the trial is a success, this service will reduce city centre congestion on match day and provide a sustainable, affordable travel option for Newcastle fans.”
Go North East already operates the X50, a matchday Park and Ride service from the Metrocentre, which is set to carry more than 25,000 fans this season.
