Lost property FAQs
Things to be aware of before you enquire
What do I do if I’ve lost something on one of your buses?
We know it can be really stressful when you lose something, but we can't contact the bus driver whilst they're out on the road. We'll try and make the process as easy as possible. If you've lost something, please contact our customer services team the following day and we'll let you know whether we've found it.
Hazardous, objectionable, or perishable items
We do not keep or take enquiries for lighters, foodstuffs, soiled clothing, highly flammable substances, or other items that may be hazardous or undesirable to store.
Bank Cards & Credit Cards
We don't keep or take enquiries for individual credit or debit cards - these are securely destroyed when found. We'd recommend that you contact your bank immediately to report the loss and arrange a replacement.
FAQs
I’ve just left something on a bus, can you contact the driver?
Our driving colleagues are focused on getting you safely from A to B so, unfortunately, we can’t contact them to search for your lost property while out on the road.
You’ve found my item, how do I get it back?
We'll store your item at one of our depots/offices in Gateshead, Sunderland, Washington, Consett or Percy Main. The location will depend on which bus the item was lost on. Our team will provide the collection instructions if we've had your item handed in.
How long do Go North East store lost property?
We’ll store any lost items for 28 days. Except for anything perishable, undesirable or hazardous to store – anything that we’re unable to store will be disposed of.
What happens if I don’t collect my item within 28 days?
After 28 days, any unclaimed items will become the property of Go North East and will be donated to charity or disposed of. We work closely with a number of local charities and donate any suitable unclaimed items.
