Fare changes from 1 April 2026

From Wednesday 1 April, there will be some changes to our fares.
Which fares are changing?
- Some multi-operator day tickets, supported by the North East Combined Authority.
- Concessionary fares in County Durham for journeys on weekdays before 09:30am.
- Some single and return fares on services supported by Durham County Council.
- Nexus are increasing fares on their services, including those operated by Go North East.

Day tickets
From 1 April 2026, the North East Combined Authority (NECA) are changing the price of the multi-operator day tickets:
- Durham Day Rover tickets will increase to £6.00.
- Northumberland Day Rover tickets will remain at £6.00.
- Tyne & Wear Day Rover tickets will also be withdrawn. Customers who use this ticket will still be able to purchase the TNE Day Saver tickets which will remain at £7.50.
- There will be no changes to 21 & Under Day tickets or any Go North East day tickets.
Concessionary fares in County Durham
- Durham County Council have increased the fare for concession card holders from 50p to £1.00. This only applies on weekday journeys made before 09:30am, concession card holders travel for free at all other times.
Single & return fares (Durham County Council supported services)
- Durham County Council have increased adult single and return fares by 20p, but will remain capped at £2.50.
- Child single and return fares will also increase by 10p, but will remain capped at £1.00.
- These changes only apply to services V5, 201, 202, 206, 208, 209, 210, 700, 701, 702, 703, 807, 808, 875, 876, 877, X62, & service 6 between Lanchester & Stanley.
- There are no other changes to Adult, Child or 21 & Under single or return fares across the Go North East network.
Fares on Nexus supported services
Nexus are increasing fares on their services, including those operated by Go North East.
These changes apply to services 67, 69, 81, 99, 333, 342, 54A, 643, 935 and 787.
- Adult single fares will remain capped at £2.50 but any short hop fares on these services will increase from £2 to £2.20.
- Adult Day tickets increasing from £4 to £4.50
- Adult 1 Week tickets increasing from £18 to £20
- Adult Transfare increases:
- Zone 1 by 10p to £4.50
- Zone 2 by 20p to £5.60
