Eclipse on the Tyne
Today

We were thrilled to support Kielder Observatory’s Eclipse on the Tyne event on 12 August – a celebration of the most spectacular eclipse for generations!
Our support guaranteed 2,500 pairs of eclipse glasses were available for free so attendees could safely witness more than 90% of the sun being covered by the moon.
It was a fantastic evening, with hundreds of people of all generations gathering outside the Baltic and the Glasshouse International Centre for Music. A screen outside showed the path of totality in Spain (where a 100% of the sun was covered) and family friendly activities took place inside the Glasshouse.

A small group of lucky VIPs also hopped onboard our open top bus to watch the rare solar event.

Go Big all summer…
Last night’s spectacle was the definition of ‘going big’ - it was the most significant eclipse of this generation and Eclipse on the Tyne was set to be one of the biggest organised viewings in the UK!
We’re encouraging you to Go Big then Go Home all summer long and explore all the North East has to offer by bus. It's only £2.50 for an adult single, £1 for 21s and under, and Kids Go Free!
Whether you’re a foodie, history buff, planning date night or organising a family day out, find some inspiration to leave and take the bus here.
