Road closure at John Dobson Street affecting services in Newcastle City Centre

7th - 27th Jul 2025

Buses will be diverted in Newcastle City Centre from start of service on Monday 7th July for 3 weeks. The bus stop at John Dobson Street near the Central Library will not be served.

Express services will operate between Gateshead Interchange and Eldon Square via Central Motorway, stopping at Barras Bridge rather than St Mary's Place.

Services 21, 22, 28 & 29 will operate via Durant Road and serve the bus stop near the multi storey car park.

If you would normally use an express service to John Dobson Street, you may change buses at Gateshead Interchange to services 21, 22, 28 or 29, simply scan the QR code on your ticket when you board at Gateshead.
