Why choose Go North East?
Over 100 years of service
It was 100 years ago, on 7 May 1913, that we started our journey - with a humble, single route between Chester-le-Street and Low Fell that cost just 5p! Today of course, we are called Go North East and we are the region’s largest bus company, with around 670 vehicles.
You'll be working for a large and successful local employer, and as part of Go North East will be part of the largest bus company in the area. In turn, Go North East is part of the(one of the largest transport groups in the UK), who operate bus, rail and airport services throughout the country.
Our pay and conditions packages are among the best in our field. You will receive a training rate when you are going through the training process, then once you are signed off by your Depot Mentor you will then receive full driving rate. If you come to us with a PCV licence, all training is paid at your full depot rate.
We also have state of the art buses, free travel concessions and give you quality uniforms that add up to a package that's hard to beat. You will also be enrolled into a Qualifying Pension Scheme. Full details can be asked for during your training process.
Development and progression
As a trainee, from the day you start you'll be given quality training towards your theory and practical tests, then you will undertake training on customer care, assisting our disabled customers and ticket issue, as well as local route training with an assigned 'mentor'.
You are automatically entered for an NVQ qualification, which provides a nationally-recognised award based on how well you do your job. Your career progression is discussed at annual appraisals, and opportunities for promotion are often available.
