Fares and tickets from 24 July

Over the last couple of years, we’ve made various improvements to our range of fares and tickets based on your feedback, continuing to offer the best value for money that’s possible.

In that time, we’ve introduced flexible tickets, promotional summer offers that became permanent, discounted evening tickets, and our recently launched DUO tickets to name but a few.

Unfortunately, we are now at the point where we have carefully reviewed the cost of running our services, and we are reluctantly changing the prices of some fares and tickets from 24 July due to rising costs.

This is not a decision we have taken lightly, and we have kept price rises as low as we possibly can. Some tickets, such as our singles and returns, will remain cheaper than they were prior to July 2021, and some monthly tickets will have their prices frozen on our app.

Buying tickets on the Go North East app remains the cheapest and easiest option.

Adult single and return fares

Most adult singles and returns will increase by 20p. There will be a new maximum single fare of £3.80, which is considerably lower than the previous maximum single fare of £5.30 which was reduced in the summer of last year.

Single journeys after 7pm will remain at a maximum of £2.

Our day tickets are available on the bus and the Go North East app, with our app offering the best value.

DUO tickets

Our range of tickets for two people travelling together, giving you a saving of 25% on the price of two individual day tickets.

The DUO tickets are available to buy exclusively on the Go North East app, and can be used for journeys after 9.30am Monday to Friday and any time on weekends and bank holidays, all within your selected zone.

7 day and Flexi 5 tickets

Our 7 day tickets and Flexi 5 tickets are priced the same. Our 7 day tickets provide seven consecutive days of travel, whereas our Flexi 5 tickets offer greater flexibility, providing five individual day tickets to use over a month.

Our 7 day tickets are available on the bus and the Go North East app, with the app offering the best value.

Please note that Flexi 5 tickets are only available on our app.

28 day tickets

Our 28 day ticket options are available to buy on the Go North East app. Our all zones, County Durham, Tyne and Wear, Northumberland and X10 ticket prices will remain frozen on the app, offering the best value for money for regular travellers.

The Go North East app now also comes with a subscription option for 28 day tickets, saving you the hassle of having to buy a new ticket each month.
