On Thursday 18 April, following the success of our first Chatty Bus Day back in January, we'll be ready with our second instalment for 'Getting to Know Your Customers Day'.
The Chatty Bus initiative is in response to the Government's loneliness strategy, with research showing that 3 in 10 Britons go at least one-day-a-week without speaking to anyone close to them. We want to do something to help change that, so we'll be encouraging people to talk to those around them.
On 'Chatty Bus' Day, between 9.30am and 3pm, buses on 309 will be our designated 'Chatty Buses', where we will have Chatty Bus Champions on board ready to start conversations with fellow passengers who would like a chat. Keeping the atmosphere fun, and only engaging with those who want to join in, the Chatty Bus Champions will be striking up conversations using a range of games and ice-breakers, or just simply having a good old natter!, and
We'll provide badges for those who want to signify that they would like to join in the conversation, and we won't disturb passengers who prefer not to take part.
Overcoming loneliness improves the health and wellbeing of our local residents and as such, we believe this is a campaign we should all get behind.
Martijn Gilbert, managing director of Go North East, said: "Loneliness is a major problem in today's society, so we were pleased to see how well received our first Chatty Bus Day was.
"This Thursday our second instalment will coincide with 'Getting to Know Your Customers Day', and we're looking forward to welcoming you all on board for a good old natter, with the overall aim of making people happier."
So, fancy a chat? Hop on board with us and we'll look forward to talking with you!
