31st July - 30th August
During weekends in August, Blackett Street in the centre of Newcastle's vibrant city will be closed to traffic and transformed into a fantastic play area for families.
Enjoy a playground area decked out in artificial grass, seating, fairground rides and large outdoor games for families to spend their time in the heart of Newcastle.
Head into the city during the summer to be part of the action. Blackett Street will also provide the location for a series of World Record breaking attempts by Phil Pugh, who holds the World Record for being among the oldest team to row across the Atlantic in 2012.
On the 14-15 August, Phil will attempt to beat the World Record for tyre flipping and will also embark on a 24-hour tyre flipping challenge. The public will be able to take part in the fun by joining a tyre flipping relay race and other interactive activities.
Relax in a large beanbag, mini deck chairs and an artificial grass sofa before popping into the shops or grabbing a bite to eat from the many Newcastle city centres cafes and restaurants.
