Affordable journeys for young people aged 21 or under
5 months ago
Working in partnership with Transport North East, cheaper tickets are now available for young people aged 21 and under.
At just £3 for a day ticket, or £1 for a single journey, these tickets allow effortless and cost-effective travel. Whether you’re commuting to school, meeting friends or exploring the region’s rich, cultural heritage, this fare will get you there.
Download the Go North East mobile app to make your journey even easier, from buying tickets in advance of your journey, to tracking where your bus is in real-time, and everything in between. All of our vehicles are fitted with contactless payment technology too, so you can pay using cash, card or mobile phone.
Your £3 day ticket is also valid on the Tyne & Wear Metro, Shields Ferry and all other local bus services in Tyne & Wear, County Durham and Northumberland, making your journey easier and cheaper than ever!
These cheap fares are not valid to or from Tees Valley on the X10. This means if you want to travel from Peterlee towards Stockton or Middlesbrough, you will need to buy a £2 single ticket.
You may be asked to show valid ID when buying this ticket. If you are asked to show ID, you can use: a Passport (UK or International), proof of age cards with a PASS logo (e.g. a CitizenCard or Young Scot card), a driving licence or provisional driving licence (UK or EU), EU national identity card, an NHS Medical Card, Stagecoach U19 ID card, Nexus U16 Pop card, Arriva North East Teen Card or Network One Young Persons ID card.
