Sometimes your Go North East bus cannot get you all the way to your chosen destination. Sometimes it may be more convenient to use our bus to get to a Metro station and complete your journey on the Metro system. We understand that our customers sometimes want this choice.

You can use any Go North East bus in Tyne and Wear (except our Night Buses which have an N prefix) make a bus journey and then complete your journey by either Metro or by the Shields Ferry.

You can board Metro at any station on the system, transfer to Go North East bus at any other station and complete your journey.

Two bus journeys are not permitted except in Washington between our Street Shuttle services W2-W6 changing at Galleries or Concord to our Metrolink services M1-M3 to access Metro at Heworth.

The map shows the transfare zones in Tyne & Wear which are coloured Yellow, Green or Grey.

If your bus AND Metro or Ferry journey is wholly within the Yellow, the Grey or the Green zone then you only need a ONE zone ticket.

If you are travelling within the Yellow AND the Green zones, or within the Green AND Grey zones you need a TWO zone ticket.

If you are travelling within the Yellow, Green AND Grey zones you need a THREE zone ticket. Child transfare tickets allow travel within all three zones.

Some journey examples are shown below.
